1 Year Old

This is a little late but it is important....

Ruthie turned 1 on the 17th of January! We definitely spent several wonderful days celebrating this darling girl of ours! I knew this day would come up so fast but as I look back, we have really enjoyed having our sweet Ruthie & just don't know where we would do without her. She brings so much joy & laughter and we are just so grateful to be her parents.

Since we were not able to celebrate with all our family before we had to head back to Cali after Winter Break, we celebrated here with all our wonderful friends & ward members who we feel are our family! Lori Mautz, aka Grandma Mautz, offered to have the party at her house and we had such a good time. I worked on everything all week and it was a mad rush to get everything done but out "cupcake" themed party all came together in the end thanks to many friends who helped me with projects and watching Ruthie!

So things didn't really go according to plans when we got to the "Ruthie eating her 1st cake" thing. As you can see, she wasn't into it at all! It didn't help that she was fed a whole roll right before...but it is ok, Grandma Mautz was just trying to spoil her on her bday.
Note to self: Make sure the next one is super hungry when you show them their cake so they have some motivation.

Yeah I just ended up throwing the whole cake away. OH well! It made for a funny memory.

The table spread: 3 types of soups, homemade rolls, 4 types of mini cupcakes, homemade strawberry lemonade, salad - it was so yummy! Too bad Ruthie had no idea really:)
I was talking to my SIL the other day who just threw a party for her little 2 year old and we decided that you do so much work & detail in a party but then when you set it all up, it doesn't look like you did very much! ha So true but it is still fun to put together:)

The Birthday Banner: Pictures of Ruthie at every month - love how it turned out!

It was all so fun & it was great having a lot of wonderful people who love Ruthie around to celebrate! We're a little bit happier here:) She's sporting the darling skirt Aunt Emily gave her for her bday - Thanks Auntie Em!

Ruthie is so cute! I love the age between 1 year and two years. They still feel like you little baby, but they totally have personality and they do the funniest stuff. Can't wait till Dylan's at that stage. Hope school is going well for Craig. I know just how you feel to not have him around much, but it will all change one day and we'll wonder how we ever survived. Let us know next time you visit and have a little time. CJ and I would love to see you guys!
