Grandma Udall

So our dear Grandma Udall is now at peace. It is very sad for me. Even though she wasn't my blood grandma, I have still grown to love her so much and enjoy her cheerful/easy going personality. She has always been so welcoming of me into her family. She passed away Monday night while me and my cousin Jonny were flying home from being with the Udalls in Oceanside. I don't know why but I didn't cry when I first heard. I think partly because I was so exhausted from traveling but mostly because I am happy for her. She was in so much discomfort and pain. Another reason is because I think I have had time to prepare for it. We were all very blessed to go celebrate her 60th wedding anniversary a month ago, where we got to enjoy her company.

I had a tender moment when we said bye to her. All the Udall's traveled down there together (meaning my immediate fam in a 15 passenger van!) and as we were all about to leave from a relative's house, Craig and I realized we didn't really get to say bye to Grandma (she was at home). Everyone else said goodbye earlier but I thought we were going to get another chance and so did Craig so we didn't (I postpone goodbyes). But I felt that I needed to go see her and pressed the issue to go by one more time and we were able to. She was laying down in her room and all we did was say bye but I was able to hug her one more time and all I could muster out was that I loved her as tears filled my eyes and I left the room. It was really hard for me. I have already said goodbye to my dear Grandpa Freeman and that was one of the hardest things for me to deal with. I cried for a while on the way home but I am really happy that I had that simple moment with her and was able to say bye.

Her funeral is this weekend and I am so excited to be with Craig's family to celebrate her wonderful life! I am so blessed to be a part of the Udall family, they are so loving and fun. It is a blessing to have been able to have her as a grandmother and that we can all see her again! Although she will be greatly missed.
It is also fun to think that maybe my two grandparents can now hang out :)
