A bit of jealousy

Now I know being jealous is not a good thing or something necessarily to "blog" about but I was just thinking and realized that I am! I am jealous of my sister Emily. Not because she is not is beautiful, talented, genuine, sporty, crafty, etc., but because she has such a fun degree! Don't get me wrong, I adore mine because it is my passion and so applicable. But hers is something that I wish I could do too. She originally started out at MCC doing Interior Design, but their program was iffy. So she applied to BYU, got a scholarship to boot & is now doing the "Family, Home & Personal Enrichment" degree(can't remember the exact name) with an emphasis in Interior Design. Last semester she took this awesome sewing class and made a fabulous skirt. Yes, I learned to sew from my mom but I haven't put those skills to use for some time & really don't know what I am doing a lot of the time. Secondly, she is taking this wonderful cooking class this year & is learning all these fantastic culinary skills! Well, I LOVE to cook and wish soooo badly I could go to culinary school if I: A. had the money & B. it was like 5 years ago. So I really am not jealous, I love that Emily is able to experience so much right now, I am just wishing that I could do those things right now too. But anyways, I just can't wait for the day that I am able to work on projects, sew blankets for my kids and bake non-stop!

I also am just impressed with BYU because many of their programs focus on the family. There is a lack of support when it comes to families in the world, at least that is what I see already for being out with many different health professionals. For many of them, their focus in life is their career and making a name for themselves. Having a career is the goal for so many, but I just feel like they don't realize the true joy of families!

So here's to BYU for making wonderful future mothers, wives & for focusing on developing such beneficial talents in women!
And here's to Emily! My best friend & sister whom I love so much!
Happy Birthday Em:) You are so amazin' -

What an awesome degree! Now that;s something that i would have lover to have done. That's awesome that she received a scholarship as well.

Melissa- you are just as accomplished! I'm sure Emily would love to be able to learn all of your health facts as well:)

awww! Thanks Melis. I will come home and teach you everything I know, how about that? Or you can come up here and live... but I don't think Craig would like that idea :)

What, It's Emily's b-day? Seriously, who isn't jealous of Emily? I need her e-mail, by the way.

okay, it's Kristin again. Do you want to run (or walk) with my relay team the 27th and 28th? I just had half the team back out and I am scrambling for people to join.

Yeah seriously! I need to take some nurturing motherly classes too. I am way behind on the homemaker skills. Why did we not take that upon ourselves for FHE when I lived at your house? Hey, you should take a class. I think the fabric stores do classes or MCC continuing education does. Well I guess you can when life slows down after june.

I definitely agree with you on this one. As "FUN" as school can be sometimes, it is always more fun to see what other people are doing. I personally agree that I would love to be sewing things for little ones, baking/cooking for my hubby, and capable of keeping the house at least not trashed... all in due time honey... all in due time. :) Maybe then we will think back on how wonderful school was... ha ha, or not.
